Richard Nixon library & museum

I've been to the Richard Nixon library & museum. For me, I normally don't like musea an dthat kind of stuff, but this was at his birthplace and the house where he was born, still stood there. So that was a different experience for me; I could see those 5 little kids running around (in my mind ofcourse) and feel how they have lived there.

Orange police department

We went to the Orange police department. It was a department were people, who are arrested, come in, but don't stay there. So it was not a prison. I would like to see the cellblocks, so we went!!! It was not allowed to take pictures, but I can tell you that it's no differences than back in the Netherlands. Our guide was a SWAT teammember. So he showed us around and seen places of the department where I've never been before. For example: he took us to the Emergency room, this is the room where te 911 phonecalls come in. The funny part was that I, a few days arlier, was with Moira and we saw a man who looked confused. So we called the police and asked them to take a look. t the emergency room I asked if they could see what happend after our call. They could and could tell me that they didn't fouond the man. So problably he went well.

After the tour inside the building, he took us to the cars and the guns!!! We could even hold one of the guns and I can tell you it was a awesome feeling to hold such a gun, but eventhough it was a heavy thing to hold...

Angels - Red Sox Baseball game

At thurdaynight we went to a real baseball game. It was between the Angels and Red Sox. Because we were in Orange we were the fans of Angels. It was a boring game, but I saw for the first time in my life a homerun! Amazing to see how the crowed get's crazy! But we lost...

21 April

The next morning we would meet the hostfamilies. Mine were working so I was picked up by Tito. He brought me to his factory (he owns a chemical laboratory). when I was there I could talk to Ruben and Cindy on skype, that was so much fun!!! Round noon we had a lunch at Watson's. That's an old fashioned dinner. Tom Hanks was once there for the movie: 'That thing you do'. It was a dinner like the serie 'Happy day's'. I had an cheeseburger with bacon and it was a big one!

Me and Tito

About 4 o'clock I ws picked up by my own hostfamily (Moira and Ray). They took me to their home and I had time to unpack my luggage. They gave me a beautifull room and I even had my own bathroom. At 6 o'clock we were expected by the gouvernor her house. There we had our Welcome party.

Hotel Double tree inn

First we drank a glass of wine with the gouvernor and the next gouvernor, after that we went for a time of relaxing in the jacuzzi...

After that we all went to our room and got to bed. and remember we had a day for more than 24 hours (about 31 hours). So it was round the clock of 5 in the morning. Like the pillow is saying: Sweet dreams!!!

Schiphol

we had our breakfast at Schiphol. after the breakfast Ellen and I had to go for a quick stop to buy sigarettes, puzzles, adapter for my camera and so on and so on...

Miss my friends

Still 5 weeks...

In about 5 weeks I'm going to California!!! To be exact the 19th of april I'm on the plane! I can't wait till it's time, but before I go there's still a lot of work to do, for example this blog. First of all, I've never made a blog before and I think I'm not very good at it. I'm more the kind of person who's better in telling stories with photographes. So there will be a lots of pics on my blog and every pic tells a story...
But there's more to do; choose pictures wich I'm gonna take with me to the USA to show the hostfamilies, make reservations for the plain (chairs) and, of course, our schedule and see what everything is on the internet, for example: Ronald Reagan Library, Lecture of the Dalai Lama, Trip to San Diego (Shopping time!!!) etc etc. Last but not least: Clothes to take with me!!! When I'm on a holiday for 2 weeks it's always a disaster to choose what clothes I want to wear and now I'm about to go for 4 weeks!!!
But anyway, it's a lot of fun and I'm very excited!!!
